It is true that with the ever developing revolution of computers and digital systems, a regular computer is very essential for both work and fun. But, then, gone are the days, when you had to plug in a bulky and inconvenient desktop of a monitor, a keyboard and a processing unit. The trend is the lighter the merrier. And as of now, laptops, or notebooks, and tablet PCs are dominating the scene of technological developments in computers. Sure, the laptop's compact size and convenience has still made it quite a preference for the masses. But, Apple's sudden and unexpected entry, with the iPad, can well spell the slow conclusion for the era of laptops.
So, what would be your choice, a laptop or an iPad? Obviously, like most extremes and difficult choices, the two options have their advantages and disadvantages. The Apple iPad has many attractions and luxuries, which make it recommended for purchase. One of them is its impressive and long lasting battery life. You can run an iPad for about 10 hours on a stretch and only after those 10 hours will it shut down. On the other hand, rarely do laptops have a battery life of more than 5 hours. What is more, some of the promising laptops and notebooks begin to become dull and fade away, as the battery drains away. So, here the iPad has the upper hand. It has a constantly bright display, which will never look dull, even as the power gushes out.
Another advantage of the iPad makes it tailor made for the masses. This is the wide range of multimedia facilities. The iPad is perfect for downloading any kind of interactive files and content. You can download and watch movies, read e-books, listen to music and you can also upload content from camcorders and mobile phones. Well, not every laptop is actually geared up for such extensive facilities.
However, by some basic aspects, the regular laptop seems to be making the right cut. The most common problem of the iPad is that its virtual keyboard and mouse are a bit too tedious. It won't be exactly cool to use your fingers for Internet browsing, or for preparing some written work. Even input devices like The Stylus are not going to be helpful. Here, the laptop will pass with flying colors. Its compact keyboards and touch pads are definitely great assets. The verdict of this game, is yet to come.
